What can you see on a 3 day self drive tour of Normandy's D-Day Beaches?

It's around a 3 hour drive from Paris to Bayeaux, a great base for the trip

Day 1, morning

Visit UTAH Beach - landing area of US troops. You can see many memorials at the start of the Liberation Route

Day 1, afternoon

Explore Sainte-Mère-Église, the town where American Paratroopers landed. See the model of the airman who got caught on the church!

Day 2, morning

Visit Pointe Du Hoc and learn the story of those who climbed the cliffs under lots of enemy fire but who prevailed.

Day 2, afternoon

Omaha beach is the next destination. The beach has monuments, a museum and just next to it is the cemetery. A poignant resting place.

Day 3, morning

Arromanches les bains is also known as Gold beach. You can still see the old mulberry harbour remains still in the sea. When the tide is out you can walk up to them.

Day 3, afternoon

Visit Pegasus bridge, a strategic operation by the British Commandos. Learn about the operation at the museum.
